The night before Blake gave each child a wonderful Father's Blessing to help start the school year. We'd had our back to school nights, met teachers for the first time, Cailee had a tour of the middle school and was all registered. So all we had left to do was get up early and take some pictures of my little darlings! Oh, and of course
Madie's first day was actually Thursday! She got to meet her teacher and explore her classroom on Monday while the other kiddos were at their first day of school! Madie's first day she practically ran all the way there! Once we got there, I thought she was going to run all the way back home. She took one look at all the kids and parents around the playground and hid behind her Daddy. She was not going to have anything to do with that crazy business. The bell rang and I thought she was booking it for the exit. Blake caught her and she informed him she was going to the back of the line! She did and wore a very interesting look on her face. I didn't think she was going to go in. Thankfully she entered and after school she told me she had a wonderful time! She even made a new friend, who now has a name...Chloe! She didn't have a name for a few days.
Brandon is a school champ. He really does love school! He was up and ready really early! He went into his classroom with confidence to discover he didn't have a seat at his desk. He then got a little nervous. I talked to his teacher and his chair was found shortly to the relief of this 3rd grader! Brandon was allowed to stay in his classroom and work on getting his desk set up, so we left him there and headed off to take Abby to her class!
Abby is always so funny the first day of school. She gets pretty nervous but says she's okay. Because it was rainy off and on we had umbrellas with us. It had stopped raining but she wanted a few pictures holding it by her classroom door none the less! I just love her smile!! When the bell rang she lined up and waited to go in. Her teacher took a little bit to get there so we had a little time to watch all the kids. She didn't know very many kids in her class and she looked really nervous. She wouldn't make eye contact with me. I'm not quiet sure why. It was kind of funny. She did leave us with a smile though!
Cailee...oh boy. Cailee started Middle School this year. This one was really hard for me. I was NOT ready for her to go. I liked the safety in the Elementary...knowing she was with one teacher and I knew what to expect. With her going into Middle School, I didn't fully know what to expect and I had no idea how she would handle it. She handled it like a champ...while I'm not sure I even handled it. We got to the Middle School to find a LONG line of cars, all trying to get to the front of the middle school.
This genius mom decided to go the back of the school and walk run to the front. I was so nervous to have her late for her first day but still trying not to show it so she wasn't a complete wreck. I was plotting out my route when I saw a police officer waving me the opposite direction. I thought they weren't letting us go to the back of the school for some reason so I rolled down my window to ask. He asked me to pull over to the side and that's when I realized he had a radar gun in his hands. I didn't realize how fast I was going. I was trying really hard at this point not to cry...remember I didn't want to make her first day worse. The officer asked if I realized I was going 30 in a 20 zone. I apologized multiple times and explained it was her first day and I didn't want her to be late but I didn't realize I was speeding. I told him I had never been pulled over before, which he was surprised about. Because someone who goes 30 in a school zone must be a repeat offender;) He told me he wasn't going to ticket me (thank you officer). That helped hold the tears back. I was close to losing it. Cailee kept a close, I mean close, eye on the clock for me! He did run my license and registration but hurried it along. He wished Cailee a happy first day of school and we were on our way.
We made it to the front when the bell rang and to our relief there were a lot of kids all lined up to get their schedules too. We found her friend Brooklyn and her Mom right away and that seemed to make everything better! We got the girls schedules, took a few photos and off they were. I was so nervous to have her going in without me. I wanted to run in after her to make sure she made it to her first class okay.
She did great...even without me there to hold her hand;) She said she had a great day!
So as fate would have it, we are back to the nitty gritty of school and schedules!
